SACHA KRINSTINSKY
°1977 Namur, Belgium. Living and working in Antwerp.
My grandfather escaped the chaos of his homeland on foot. He lived nameless in forests until he reached a safe haven in Namur, where he also found love. He gave himself the name 'Krinstinsky,' which he passed on to my father. Days to a Name is an ode to my grandfather's journey to an identity.
A reflection in the water can be any color. It's movable and has no set visual definition. My Reflection Pieces represent the fluidity of identity and perception.
Growing up in Namur, I was influenced by my father, a talented artist, and the French image culture surrounding me. Strong visual compositions became a source of Screen Souvenirs that I captured on canvas.
Living in Antwerp, Stray Wolf wanders at night when the world slows down. The contrast of fear and longing for solitude becomes a narrative voice. I add fictional layers to reality. Each visual story invites the viewer to a daydream taken by night.
